The Best Electric Smoker in 2019
Old Smokey Electric Smoker
On our best electric smoker review list, we have the first
cylinder-style smoker on this list. Cylinder-style smokers look and operate
differently than the other kinds of smokers that we have reviewed so far, but
plenty of people actually prefer this style of smoker.
For starters, one of the nice things about the Old Smokey,
and this style of smoker in general, is that they are on the smaller side. This
makes it easy to stick them anywhere you want, unlike cabinet-style smokers,
which are often so big that they need to be placed in certain areas.
We wouldn’t call them very portable because they
can be quite heavy, and they don’t have wheels to be pushed around on. However,
definitely a good option for those of you with space concerns.
It is a very powerful smoker to be sure. With a heating
element that can exceed 1000 watts (it has a maximum power output of 1250 watts
to be precise), it is the most powerful entry that we have looked at on our
best electric smoker review list.
Pros
Powerful 1250-watt heating element.
On the smaller side.
Can easily add woodchips during cooking process.
Designed to be easy to use.
Cons
Not easy to access food.
Can’t check on food easily.
Masterbuilt 20077515 Front Controller
Electric Smoker with Window
We are going to be reviewing the Masterbuilt
20077515 Front Controller Electric Smoker with Window. This is the not
the only Masterbuilt smoker that you will be seeing on our best electric smoker
review list.
We found that this smoker and another one from them were both
worthy of being reviewed. Also, we should mention that there are two different
sizes available, 30 inches and 40 inches. We are reviewing the 30-inch model,
but most of what we mention applies to the 40-inch model as well.
For starters, this is definitely a powerful smoker. With a
powerful heating element (it has a power output of 800 watts) and very thick
walls, the smoker heats up incredibly fast and cooks very quickly.
Pros
Great cooking racks.
Durable exterior.
Minimal heat loss.
Good cooking power (800-watt heating element).
Good cooking area.
Cons
Small woodchip tray.
Remote could be better.
Masterbuilt 20073716 Portable
Electric Smoker
To end off our best electric smoker review list,
we wanted to review one last Masterbuilt smoker. Why two Masterbuilt products
in a row? Well, despite the same brand names, the two smokers are actually
quite different. This smoker, as you can tell from the name, is meant to be a
portable electric smoker. It is smaller and more compact than most other
smokers on this list, which is why we decided to include it.
Let’s start with the size, which is the defining feature of
the smoker. It is very small; in fact, it is the smallest smoker on this list.
While it could have sued some wheels to make it more portable, it is still
fairly easy to move around thanks to two very convenient handles on the sides
of the smoker.
Pros
Easy to carry thanks to handles on the side.
Powerful 1400-watt heating element.
Easy to fold up and store.
Very simple control scheme.
Cons
Could use some wheels.
Small cooking area.
